AHGA is still in financial crisis and struggling to stay open. Vet bills, feed bills and several "abnormal" recent expenses have drained our resources. Please help if you can!

There are several ways you can help. One is by shopping with Hound Mountain. 100% of all profits go to support the Almost Heaven hounds. Check out the collection of original sweats, tees and gift items made specially for Hound Mountain.

Another way to help is to sponsor one of our Greyhounds while he/she waits to be adopted. Details about the sponsorship program are here.

AHGA has joined two dogfood rebate programs. If we clip and send in Pedigree Proof of Purchase (POP) squares, or Purina weight circles, we receive rebates of at least 8¢ per pound. That's $4.00 for each 50 lb bag, but we'll happily take POP's and weight circles from smaller bags, too. If you feed any Pedigree dry product, or one of several Purina products (including Pro Plan, Purina One, Dog Chow, Puppy Chow and Hi Pro), please clip the POP or weight circle from the bags and send them to us. They look like this:

These things really add up. Between our house dogs and the kennel, we usually use 170-200 lbs of kibble every week. I have rebate requests ready to mail tomorrow for over $200! That's going to help us a lot. So if you save up several POP's and/or weight circles you can make a nice contribution to AHGA without spending any money. Please mail them to:

Our Mission Statement

Almost Heaven Greyhound Adoption was founded by
racing people, is currently run and staffed by racing
people, and is largely supported by people from within
the racing community. However, AHGA's function as
a group is not to promote racing. We love racing, but
we love our dogs more and they will always come first.
Our threefold mission is:

1. To educate the general public about the availability
and suitability of retired racing Greyhounds as pets,
2. To find loving and qualified homes for Greyhounds
who are entrusted to us, and
3. To offer ongoing support to those who adopt
Greyhounds, whether from us or from other sources.

Almost Heaven Greyhound Adoption was formed to help fill the need to find homes for Greyhounds as they retire from racing. We are based in Cross Lanes WV near Tri-State Greyhound Park.

We have adoptable Greyhounds in our Cross Lanes kennel and sometimes in foster care waiting to find permanent families. We also often have a waiting list of dogs who are still in their respective racing kennels or breeding/training farms. We feed and care for the dogs in the kennel and in foster homes, getting to know them as well as possible so that we can find the best home to suit each individual dog's personality. In the process we teach them as much as we can about home living, and "new" (to them) things like stairs and house manners.

This website has four purposes:

to give information (and pictures when possible) of any Greyhounds that we have available for adoption.
to provide general information about living with Greyhounds.
to explain some of our adoption policies and requirements (these may be subject to minor changes as our group develops).
and to celebrate some of the hounds that have already been placed. Each one of these hounds takes a piece of our hearts with them to their new homes, and to us, they will always be family. They are Almost Heaven's angels!
